Boss Arena

The Boss Arena is a straight fight against a boss, with no hunt before it. It opens from the hub, with the day’s charges on its badge.

  • Only the bosses you have already defeated in a hunt. The ones your account has never killed stay as silhouettes, as in the Bosstiary, and cannot be fought. The full list is in Bosses.
  • Each boss once a day, with 8 charges a day for all of them. The charge and the day’s fight are spent when you enter: winning, losing or closing the game halfway costs the same. Charges do not stack and come back at midnight UTC.

You bring the character chosen in the hub and up to 2 other characters of your account, of different vocations. You control only yours; the AI plays the others. A character on the exercise dummy cannot join, not even as an ally.

Each character brings its weapon and picks up to 3 unlocked spells of its vocation (4 when promoted). They stay at level 1 for the whole fight: there is no experience or level up in the arena, and no supplies.

Each character enters with its equipment, imbuements, Wheel, skills and permanent level. Each boss has a recommended level, shown on screen:

  • below it, every missing level makes the character take more damage and deal less;
  • above it, every extra level helps a little, without making the fight trivial.

This is counted per character: bringing a low-level character along becomes a burden.

The arena uses the floor of the boss’s map. The boss comes in after a 3-second countdown, and the fight lasts 5 minutes; after that, the party is taken out of the arena and it counts as a defeat.

  • Defeat: your character died (allies may fall earlier). There is no death penalty, only the spent charge.
  • Victory: the boss’s tokens, the gold it leaves, the same equipment and weapon chance as in the hunt (with the boss slot bonus) and the Bosstiary kill (the Boosted Boss counts 3×). Experience, skills, Bestiary and creature loot are left out.
